Yesterday, North East Law Centre was visited by the President of The Law Society, Nick Emmerson, the President of the Newcastle upon Tyne Law Society, Nigel Emmerson, and a current Law Society Council Member for North East England, Guy Goodings.

The visit was a unique opportunity for the NELC team to share their experiences of working in the Legal Sector, NELC’s unique position as a Law Centre, and opportunities for strengthening links with the Newcastle upon Tyne Law Society.

Discussions included Legal Aid, advice deserts, the current environment for Immigration Solicitors and Advisers, routes into Law and recent issues in SQE exams and marking. Despite challenges facing the Legal Sector, the visit also highlighted the importance of Solicitors and Legal Advisors in providing access to justice!
